Illuminating Luxury – The Lighting Transformation at V Mayfair Health Club, London

Nestled in one of London’s most desirable and prestigious neighbourhoods, V Mayfair is a luxury gym, fitness, and wellness centre renowned for its sophisticated ambience and state-of-the-art facilities. More than just a fitness club, V Mayfair offers an exclusive, immersive experience designed to combine comfort, style, and wellbeing. Every detail from the elegantly appointed interiors to the expert, attentive staff reinforces its position as a premier destination for health and luxury.

Truly Lighting collaborated closely with the project architects LXA, alongside Robert Clift and the client to help bring the visuals to life for the stunning health club.

David Rooney, Design Director from LXA commented: “We developed the conceptual brief for V in close collaboration with our client. The design narrative is built around Five pillars of wellness: Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, Social & Spiritual. In combining these fundamental platforms, we have curated a health club experience that provides a haven for wellness and solace in the heart of Mayfair”.

Recessed LED slots were installed in the entranceway and to frame the backlit ‘V’ behind the reception desk – creating a luxury feel to the project. Throughout the club, backlit mirrors provide soft, even lighting that eliminates shadows while creating a contemporary and inviting atmosphere.

Additional lighting integrated between timber panels enhances the sense of depth and interest, highlighting different layers of illumination throughout the space. Due to exposed services in the ceiling, most fixtures are suspended, with a combination of linear and circular LED pendants used to provide general lighting and subtly distinguish different zones within the club.

As part of the renovations, an underground car park was repurposed, into a beautiful, new Pilates studio for members. The space allows for the ceiling lights to be switched off, relying solely on the gentle illumination from the backlit mirrors. This creates a soft, flattering ambience and helps prevent glare in members’ eyes while they are lying on the equipment.

In addition to exercise spaces, the changing rooms underwent a huge transformation. Discreet LED lighting above the lockers, integrated within the joinery, along with backlit mirrors and decorative wall lights, all work together to elevate the sense of luxury and create a soft, inviting glow throughout the space.

The result is a sophisticated well-lit, performance-driven setting that not only energises members but also reinforces V Mayfair’s status as a leading destination for fitness and well-being in one of the city’s most prestigious areas.
