Krill Design’s Ohmie, the Orange Lamp shortlisted for The Compasso d’Oro Award

Krill Design is delighted that Ohmie, the Orange lamp ™ project, has been shortlisted for The Compasso d’Oro Award’s Sustainable Design category. This lamp design is an honourable example of Krill’s commitment to a 100% circular economy, made from 3D printed orange peels that are fully biodegradable and compostable.

The Compasso d’Oro Award is the oldest and most authoritative design award in the world. The shortlist was announced at the exhibition launch of ADI Design Index 2022, held at the ADI Museum in Piazza Compasso d’Oro in Milan.  All of the selected projects, together with those of the ADI design index 2023, will compete for the 2024 Compasso d’Oro Award.

Three keywords were chosen as the exhibition’s leitmotif: freedom, system, and quality. As reported by the ADI website, “Design is part of a system, and is present throughout the supply chain from which the products are born, from the materials to the final user: the exhibition aims to reflect the extension of this role throughout the range of production. Quality has always been central to the ADI Design Index, created in 2000 precisely to identify it in all sectors of Italian production. It has an implicit premise in the attention paid to the choices of the more than one hundred ADI Permanent Design Observatory experts. The design system is also freedom of conception, production capacity, and distribution efficiency.”
