Faithful to the Vision: White Light Supplies Fixtures for Traitors Live Immersive Experience

After audiences enjoyed the final episode of The Celebrity Traitors last Saturday, the hunt now begins in real life. In this thrilling new immersive experience in Covent Garden, guests step into the world of The Traitors, completing missions, navigating mind games at The Round Table, and testing their strategy in a battle of deceit and loyalty.

Lighting designer Elliot Griggs was appointed to bring the tension, drama, and theatricality of the hit TV show into a fully immersive live environment. He approached White Light (WL) to supply the lighting fixtures.

“We wanted to bottle the tension and drama that everyone loves from the TV show and boil it down into the live experience,” explains Elliot. “We couldn’t exactly rebuild Ardross Castle in Covent Garden, but we could take plenty of design cues to give as much of the iconic look and feel as we could.”
Lighting plays a pivotal role in shaping the experience, guiding guests through dimly lit corridors, past eerie portraits and suits of armour, and into the high tech Round Table rooms.

“The Round Table is where much of the experience takes place, and so is the most technically advanced room in the experience,” says Elliot. “These rooms use lighting to go between day, night and into challenge states as well as heightening the many moments of tension throughout the game.”

To meet the demands of this complex production, WL supplied a carefully selected range of fixtures tailored to the unique requirements of each space. Over 120 Chauvet ColorDash Accent 3 units were installed—one for each player seat—providing precise control and dynamic effects. Additional Chauvet fixtures, including ColorDash H7X Pars, Slimbanks, and Eve P160s, were used to enhance colour rendering and create impactful photo opportunities. For broadcast-quality lighting in the Round Table rooms, Elation KL Fresnel 4 FCs were added to the rig. Atmospheric effects were delivered using Le Maître hazers, chosen for their low fluid consumption and minimal residue. Data distribution was managed via Obsidian Netron EN12, enabling remote triggering and emergency recalls, while LED pixel control was handled through Enttec Pixellator Minis and PLinks. At the heart of the system, an ETC EOS console orchestrated over 140 cue stacks and nearly 4,000 cues, ensuring seamless transitions and immersive gameplay.

“All the show areas required LED with 16-bit control, excellent colour rendering and refresh rates that would be suitable for camera as we transmit every game to its linked lounge so that banished and murdered players are able to watch the rest of the game play out, and take part in extra challenges. ” Elliot explains. “Everything was selected for specific reasons – from the Le Maître hazers for their low fluid consumption, to the Netron EN12 for its remote triggering and recalls.”

The experience is powered by Clockwork Dog’s COGS system, allowing actors to operate the show live via a custom tablet interface. This seamless integration of lighting, sound, and video ensures that each game runs smoothly, with technical staff on hand only for support.

“The show itself is extremely technically complex, with eight games running simultaneously on one lighting console,” says Elliot. “Every player has their own ColorDash Accent 3 spot which tracks their progress, and almost every button and interaction in the room has some form of live response.”
Audience reactions have been overwhelmingly positive. “Seeing people’s excitement as they walk into the Round Table room or Traitors Tower is really great to see,” Elliot shares. “My favourite moment is during player introductions – the light above their seat brightens with a deep rumbling whoosh, and the whole table lets out a collective ‘ooh’.”

For the redesign of the prestigious restaurant, dpa lighting consultants specified lighting solutions from Lucent Lighting to complete their design vision. The lighting plays a key role in shaping the restaurant’s ambience from the lunch service through to the evening and features warm and welcoming palettes of dark amber tones to create a comfortable and sophisticated environment for guests.

The discreet Edge90 Accent Trimmed and Focus60 Accent downlights from Lucent Lighting provide an intimate glow above the tables and bar, as well as illuminating the dramatic wall-length chalkboard, drawing the eye to the daily specials in the stylish dining room. A feature of the restaurant is its iconic Bourbon bar, home to a collection of over 500 rare bourbons. The glow of the downlights accentuates the lighting within the shelves, providing an amber backdrop to showcase each dazzling bottle.

LIGHT FORMS BRINGS CONTEMPORARY CHARACTER TO A CREATIVE MARKETING HEADQUARTERS

Light Forms has illuminated the new headquarters of full-service marketing agency Reech – delivering a bespoke lighting design that reflects the brand’s creativity, local roots, and bold ambitions for the future.

Situated in Shrewsbury and housed within a newly built premises that has a nod to an agricultural-barn, the new Reech headquarters marks a significant milestone for the growing agency – providing a purpose-built environment three times the size of its former premises. Designed with longevity, flexibility, and collaboration in mind, the new building offers a range of adaptable work and social spaces – all enhanced by a carefully curated and custom lighting scheme.

Working closely with architects EDA Limited, electrical contractors SY Electrical Services, and main contractor Matrix IDC, Light Forms created a lighting design that fuses industrial character with refined modernity.

The scheme includes a series of signature Light Forms luminaires: vertically hung Lightrod 80 pendants making a bold statement above the central staircase; a Serpentine 60 oval profile is suspended over the 4.5-metre poseur height table located within the creative reception space, and elegant Moonband 60 rings illuminating the boardroom.

Warmth and texture are introduced through E27 Flex pendants with feature LED filament lamps in the breakout zone, whilst an on-brand bespoke illuminated “R” logo, colour-matched and engineered to specification, provides a stunning centrepiece within the reception area – creating the wow factor for its client visitors.

“We wanted to create a workspace that truly represents who we are – creative, ambitious, and deeply connected to our Shropshire heritage,” said Rob Hughes, Founder and Managing Director at Reech. “Light Forms understood that perfectly. Their lighting design doesn’t just illuminate the building – it enhances how we work, collaborate, and welcome our clients.”

Tridonic UK Inspires Future Talent Through BBC Bitesize Careers Tour

Tridonic UK is proud to have taken part in the BBC Bitesize Technicians Make a Difference Careers Tour, supporting the next generation of engineers and highlighting the essential role of technicians in the UK’s manufacturing sector. As part of the initiative, Mechatronics Maintenance Technician apprentice Troy Blamire represented Tridonic, sharing his personal career journey and offering insights into life as an engineering apprentice.

The nationwide tour introduces school students to real technicians working in industry, helping them understand the diversity of technical careers and the pathways that can lead to them. For Tridonic, participation aligns closely with its Tridonic 360 People pillar, which champions education, skills development, and meaningful engagement with young people considering a future in STEM.

Growing up in the village of Piercebridge near Darlington, Troy first discovered his passion for engineering whilst at senior school, repairing motorbikes alongside his father. He began his journey with Tridonic during his sixth form studies, completing a T Level that saw him undertake weekly work experience within the maintenance department. Today, he plays an active role in preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and bespoke LEAN projects, supported by experienced colleagues across the facility.

During the BBC Bitesize panel sessions, Troy shared the personal motivations that shaped his career direction:

“I first knew what I wanted to do after I started fixing motorbikes with my dad in Year 9.”

He also described the strong support network that has been key to his success:

“I particularly enjoy the people at work; it feels like a friendly community and I always know who to ask if I need help or a chat.”

Despite early challenges commuting to site, Troy encouraged students not to worry about mapping their entire future immediately, explaining that engineering offers a wealth of different roles and opportunities.

LiGHT 25: More Than a Trade Show – A Celebration of Light, Learning, and Connection

LiGHT Expo London isn’t just another trade show lined with rows of exhibitors. It’s a space for discovery – where designers, specifiers, contractors, architects and beyond come together to explore how light shapes the built environment, how innovation drives design forward, and how collaboration continues to define the lighting community.

With over 200 exhibitors, thought-provoking talks and dedicated networking areas, LiGHT 25 offers visitors the chance to experience light in all its dimensions.

Following the success of 2024’s Intra-Spectrum by light artist Frankie Boyle, LiGHT 25 welcomes a new light art immersive centrepiece: Re:Vision, a collaboration between Speirs Major Light Architecture and formalighting.

Re:Vision invites visitors to step into a world of light and perception – a sensory journey that challenges how we see and understand the visual experience of other species. Using custom spectral profiles and reimagined Ishihara colour blindness test patterns, the installation explores how different life forms perceive colour and light in ways entirely distinct from our own.

Speirs Major explains, “We’ve always been fascinated by how each species experiences a completely different version of reality, despite sharing the same planet. When you begin to understand this, you start to think about the impact we as lighting designers have on those experiences through artificial light. This installation is intended to open minds – to start a conversation about designing not just for humans, but for the many other living beings that share our spaces.”

To translate complex scientific research into an accessible experience, Speirs Major and formalighting have crafted a series of environments, each based on the spectral vision of different animals. Within these spaces, visitors encounter Ishihara-style colour charts – familiar to many as tests for colour blindness – which appear or vanish depending on the available spectrum. The result is both playful and profound: an artistic incitement that makes us question how others, human or otherwise, perceive the world.

Speirs Major goes on to explain, “It’s not about simulating another species’ vision, but about creating a spark – an opportunity to see differently, even for a moment.”

Through their partnership with formalighting, known for their innovation and precision in light control, Speirs Major were able to bring this vision to life using advanced luminaires and motorised systems that enable dynamic spectral shifts and subtle changes in atmosphere.

“Formalighting have been fantastic collaborators,” Speir Majoir noted. “Their technology allowed us to experiment and deliver light in new ways, pushing beyond traditional boundaries.”

At its heart, Re:Vision is a call for empathy and imagination. Inspired by philosopher Thomas Nagel’s essay What Is It Like to Be a Bat?, the installation embraces the impossibility of truly seeing through another creature’s eyes – and yet, in doing so, invites us to reflect on how we design for a world of difference.

“Humans are the only species that truly needs artificial light,” says Speirs Major. “Yet our use of light affects every other species. Birds stay awake longer under urban lighting, nocturnal creatures lose darkness, and ecosystems are disrupted. This project asks us to think beyond ourselves.”

The installation also resonates with wider conversations around inclusivity and accessibility in design. As Speirs Major explains, “Even within our own species, perception varies – ageing changes how we see, and those with colour blindness experience the world differently. Re:Vision is a reminder that design must account for those differences, cultivating awareness and empathy along the way.”

For visitors to LiGHT 25, Re:Vision is more than an installation – it’s an experience that stays with you. It will make you pause, question, and perhaps even see your own work differently.

In an exhibition that celebrates every aspect of lighting design – from the technical to the poetic – Re:Vision is a symbol of what LiGHT 25 is all about: imagination, exploration, and connection.

Sigma appoints new Display Lead

With over 20 years’ experience in the industry, White brings a wealth of expertise across retail fixtures, display delivery, and client-focused project execution. Having worked directly in retail before joining Swedish company, ITAB, White developed a deep understanding of the operational realities and customer-facing challenges that retailers encounter every day.

During his 16 years at ITAB, he held several senior leadership positions – including Retail Director, Commercial Director, and most recently, Vice President Interiors for the UK and Baltics. He has led major projects for some of the UK’s leading retailers, including Morrisons, Co-op and ASDA and is widely recognised by his commercial insight, operational leadership, and practical approach – qualities that will further strengthen Sigma’s operations and support its continued growth.

With a proven record of increasing turnover, achieving KPIs, and delivering strategic projects within fixed timelines, White is also known for his ability to develop people, optimise operations, and build long-lasting customer relationships founded on trust and shared goals.

Midlands renewable energy and lighting manufacturer secures contract with the French Navy

A Midlands renewable energy and lighting manufacturer has secured a prestigious
international defence contract to supply thousands of custom-designed lights for the
flagship aircraft carrier of the French Navy.
Voltacon Energy Systems, which is based on the Burnsall Road Industrial Estate in Coventry,
has been awarded a £100,000 contract by the French Ministry of Armed Forces for the
Charles de Gaulle warship after impressing military engineers with its advanced LED lighting
for the UK’s Royal Navy.

The order for 10,000 tube lights follows a long-standing relationship with the UK Ministry of
Defence, which saw Voltacon supply over 20,000 specialist LED bulbs for vessels including
the HMS Queen Elizabeth, HMS Prince of Wales, Type 45 Destroyers, and various Royal Navy
frigates.
The lights will now be packaged and delivered to France for the engineers on-board the
Charles de Gaulle to fit in the autumn.

A spokesperson for the French Ministry of Armed Forces said: “We have partnered before
with Voltacon to upgrade our own lighting network with very positive results.
“Having a first-hand account of the project on our own aircraft carriers, it was only logical to
extend this offer to the Charles de Gaulle.
“After extensive testing, we concluded that our overall electrical characteristics improved
and that this solution was far more cost, time and environmentally effective than replacing
the fixtures themselves.”
Stefanos Kandilidis, Managing Director of Voltacon Energy Systems, said the deal reflected growing cross-border collaboration under NATO’s framework for shared innovation and
procurement.
“This relationship began at a defence engineering conference where a senior MoD engineer
introduced us to their French counterparts,” he said.
“They were looking to renovate and modernise the lighting systems on the Charles de
Gaulle.
“After testing our strobe lighting, we received positive feedback particularly regarding
improvements in brightness and energy efficiency, and the elimination of magnetic
interference that had plagued older fluorescent systems.”
Voltacon's lights underwent rigorous trials before being selected for full deployment on the
Charles de Gaulle – a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.

“We’re honoured to play a part in modernising such an iconic vessel,” Stefanos added. “This
is more than just a business deal – it’s validation of our engineering capabilities and the trust
placed in us through the NATO network.
“Any NATO country can now source our products without going through extended
compliance checks, giving us a direct route to supply defence projects across Europe and
beyond.”

Voltacon now has its sights set on expanding its footprint in global defence supply chains,
including the U.S. Department of Defense.
Stefanos said: “We’re building a strong reputation for problem-solving in complex
environments like naval ships.
“This latest project could be the springboard to even bigger opportunities within NATO and
allied forces.”
