Month: December 2025
The highly anticipated LiGHT Expo London returned for its fourth consecutive and increasingly successful year. As the UK’s only dedicated high-end lighting exhibition, LiGHT 25 once again welcomed thousands of visitors to the Business Design Centre in London. Over two days, the 19th and 20th of November, the exhibition centre was transformed into a creative and collaborative hub.
A record number of 6,764 attendees braved the cold weather to attend this year’s show, demonstrating their unwavering support. LiGHT 25 brought together thousands of architects, interior designers, lighting designers, engineers, and specifiers, alongside hundreds of leading architectural and decorative lighting brands. Visitors attended inspiring talks and presentations from over 60 speakers, all while making new industry connections through creatively curated networking opportunities.
A key part of LiGHT’s success is that the exhibition is constantly evolving to attract new audiences in the sector and provide a unique offering. Launched for the first time at LiGHT 25, the Technical Zone provided a dedicated showcase for brands at the forefront of urban lighting, commercial lighting, control systems, components and OEM, lamps and gear, and emergency lighting, giving visitors a vital platform to exchange expertise and explore the latest developments.
In the Decorative Zone this year, a special VIP Design Tour saw 23 leading interior design studios participate in a whistle-stop guided tour of the show. The design professionals were treated to introductions to 10 leading lighting brands suited to the interiors market, before heading to the lounge for further networking opportunities. The tour received high-praise from both attendees and the participating brands for providing a concise yet informative platform to explore the show and make connections.
This year’s show featured an expanded programme of innovation, education, and networking opportunities. Supported by Studio Due, the Associations Lounge once again acted as a shared base for leading industry bodies, including the DALI Alliance, The LIA, ILP, SLL and the IALD. Located on the Gallery Level, the lounge hosted networking events such as the in-person Silhouette Awards celebration, the LiGHT Lunch with Studio Due and speaker David Atkinson of DALD, and a dedicated two-day splinter talks programme.
Central to the educational element of the show programme were the CPD-accredited [d]arc thoughts talks series in collaboration with Lutron. Curated and moderated by editors of arc and darc magazines alongside guest moderators, the two-day talks programme brought together global experts to address themes ranging from sustainability and circularity to wellness, health, and the business of design. Topics and highlights include Out of Our Lane: What Lighting Designers Must Learn from Medicine, with speaker Willie Duggan (Lighting Designer), which calls on lighting professionals to step beyond the silo of the industry. Plus, True Luxury is Handmade: Crafted for Connoisseurs of Light, with speaker Surbhi Jindal (Da Light Hub / Women in Lighting India Ambassador), exploring the creativity that brings bespoke lighting designs to life.
Also new for 2025, visitors were able to immerse themselves in an innovative light art installation by Speirs Major Light Architecture in partnership with formalighting. Re:Vision explored the theme of colour perception across species, using custom spectral profiles and reimagined Ishihara colour blindness test patterns to reveal the diversity of visual experience across the natural world.
Managing Director, Paul James said: “We are once again blown away with the positive response and overwhelming attendance to the show. We are proud that the exhibition keeps getting bigger and better this year, cementing LiGHT as a must-visit event for anyone involved in lighting, architecture, interior design, engineering, and beyond. formalighting, in collaboration with DINTERPLAY Architects, proudly announces the completion of Precious, an innovative high-end residential experience centre designed to showcase the transformative impact of advanced architectural lighting. This immersive space demonstrates how lighting can shape mood, elevate comfort, and redefine contemporary living environments.
The design of Precious is built around the idea of creating two lounge spaces – distinct in function yet visually interconnected. This spatial strategy serves as the foundation for a layout that allows visitors to experience a wide spectrum of lighting automation possibilities within a setting that feels familiar, warm, and homely. Inspired by everyday living environments, the design references classic residential typologies such as living rooms, lounges, and multimedia spaces, helping guests imagine how seamlessly these lighting solutions could enhance their own homes.
A key challenge in developing Precious was achieving separation between the dual lounge zones while maintaining visual cohesion. DINTERPLAY Architects addressed this by introducing a sheer curtain – an elegant, soft divider that creates intimacy without sacrificing openness. This subtle partition transforms one lounge into a more immersive audiovisual setting while allowing light and visual continuity to flow through both spaces. The result is a refined balance of privacy, connection, and spatial layering.
formalighting’s lighting solutions were instrumental in defining the atmosphere and visual harmony of the Precious Experience Centre. Each fixture was selected not only for its technical performance but also for its ability to enhance architectural expression and support user experience. The brand’s precision optics ensure uniform illumination, refined beam control, and exceptional colour consistency – critical for highlighting artwork, elevating furniture details, and creating immersive lounge environments. Adjustable luminaires provide flexibility for evolving display needs, while recessed and track-mounted solutions deliver a clean, modern aesthetic that integrates seamlessly with the interior design. Together, these features allow the considered lighting to guide visitors intuitively through the space, enrich focal points, and demonstrate the transformative potential of high-quality residential lighting.
Michael Monsonego, CEO, formalighting shared “Precious beautifully demonstrates how refined lighting can transform residential environments. Our collaboration with DINTERPLAY Architects showcases formalighting’s commitment to precision, flexibility, and design excellence – allowing light to truly elevate the way people experience a space.”
Precious stands as a testament to the power of integrated lighting and design. Through the combined expertise of formalighting and DINTERPLAY Architects, the project delivers an elevated, aspirational residential environment that demonstrates how lighting can enrich modern living with both sophistication and emotional resonance.

Tridonic UK is proud to announce its role in the successful transformation of the North London Healthcare Project’s main teaching auditorium, delivering a future-ready, energy-efficient lighting system that enhances both learning quality and user wellbeing. The comprehensive upgrade replaces outdated fluorescent and halogen fittings with a full suite of Tridonic LED and DALI-2 control solutions, significantly reducing energy consumption while elevating the performance and flexibility of the space.
Working in collaboration with Light Projects Evolve and contractor EPS Site Solutions Ltd, Tridonic supplied a range of advanced technologies including LED boards, drivers, downlights, emergency exit signs and DALI-2 touch panels. Central to the installation is Tridonic’s sceneCOM S DALI lighting controller, which enables staff to tailor lighting scenes instantly to the needs of each training session or presentation. Individual and grouped luminaires can be controlled independently, ensuring adaptable, user-centred illumination at the touch of a button.
The upgraded system has transformed the auditorium into a more comfortable and engaging environment for healthcare professionals undertaking training. A 4000K colour temperature is used for primary working light, while warmer 3000K wall illumination introduces visual comfort and balance. The result is a modern, sustainable education facility that supports concentration, reduces visual fatigue and optimises energy efficiency.
John Bowden of Light Projects Evolve praised the impact of Tridonic’s solution, sharing “Tridonic’s sceneCOM S DALI is an impressive solution. It is a fantastic way to introduce DALI-2 lighting control into individual rooms, and the auditorium is a standalone space that needs this controllability and flexibility over the lighting. The auditorium is now offering a much-improved environment for wellbeing, allowing for a better learning experience. From reducing eye fatigue and headaches, and improving productivity, sceneCOM is enabling lighting control that meets the needs of the learners, while also reducing wasted and unnecessary energy.”
James Huntington, OEM Controls & Solutions Manager at Tridonic UK, added
“We are proud to support the North London Healthcare Project in creating a dynamic, efficient and intelligent learning environment. This installation demonstrates how innovative lighting control can deliver measurable energy savings while improving comfort, wellbeing and usability for everyone who relies on the space.”
With this upgrade, Tridonic UK has helped deliver a modern, efficient and highly adaptable auditorium that meets the evolving needs of healthcare education. By combining advanced LED technology with intelligent DALI-2 lighting control, the project stands as a strong example of how thoughtful design and innovation can enhance both sustainability and user experience. The North London Healthcare Project now benefits from a future-proof lighting system that supports learning, wellbeing and long-term energy performance.

New service aims to accelerate reuse across the UK lighting sector and support
carbon reduction
Recolight is pleased to announce the introduction of its Used Luminaire Certification service,
designed to encourage and support the reuse of lighting products across the industry. With
sustainability and embodied carbon at the forefront of project priorities, this certification offers
reassurance to developers, consulting engineers, and lighting designers seeking to specify second-
life luminaires.
“Many projects generate unnecessary waste by replacing relatively recent lighting products with brand
new fittings,” says Recolight CEO Nigel Harvey. “Reuse is the easiest mechanism to prevent this, extending product lifespans, and lowering embodied carbon.”
The Used Luminaire Certificate, developed and operated in partnership with Simon Fisher, will include
an opinion report on the likely remaining burn hours and lifetime of the fitting, and an estimate of the embodied carbon saving associated with re-using the fitting. This independent assessment helps
address uncertainty about the product’s remaining lifespan and embodied carbon.
The certificate is not a substitute for a warranty or CE marking, which may be supplied by a qualified
contractor undertaking any necessary reconditioning. This may be the original manufacturer or a
specialist lighting remanufacturer.
Recolight’s initiative responds to increasing interest from building owners and specifiers eager to
integrate circular economy principles into their projects. With approximately 40 per cent of global
carbon emissions attributable to the built environment, reducing embodied carbon in lighting is an
urgent industry challenge.
The new scheme aims to remove barriers to reuse, providing greater confidence to project teams and
supporting compliance with sustainability targets. It also offers valuable documentation to
demonstrate adherence to corporate or public sector carbon reduction commitments.
“We’re seeing a real appetite across the industry to do more with what we already have,” says Harvey.
“This certification gives professionals a practical tool to support reuse at scale, helping to normalise second-life lighting as part of mainstream specification practice.”
Simon Fisher added “This initiative helps provide confidence about the remaining life in pre-owned
and pre-used luminaries and that their reuse will provide acceptable service life in new environments.”
Recolight will be piloting the certificate with several major projects in the coming months, with the
intention of rolling out the service more broadly across the UK lighting market in due course.
